At long last, the much awaited for day came for the "Sesame Street cupcake" workshop that I had been planning for some time.  Since it is the June vacation, I thought it would be a good idea to run this for the kids, but little did I know that kids these days are packed to the brim with June vacations, and lots of other events.

My class surprisely had more boys than girls (excluding the adults).  But most importantly they all had fun....I will let the pictures speak for themselves....

waiting anxiously to get started....

My student in action working on Oscar the Grouch!
She was going to present her cupcakes as a gift to her niece
who was celebrating her birthday that Sunday!

Darius' artwork

7 year old Vanessa's creativity....a "smiling Sunflower"

My 2 adult students Gek and Jovien - they were so innovative and created
a chrysenthenum & sunflower cupcake and even a little lamb grazing in the field.

More pictures of their work....

This cake was made for a friend's teenage daughter, who is crazy about Twilight.
This is my 1st time doing a checkerboard cake and I was worried about the black
colour bleeding onto the white.  Took a lot of paste to colour the black and red colours too.

Interior of cake is a fudgy chocolate covered by chocolate ganache and
then covered by fondant.

Made this 2 tier cake recently, with 20 handmoulded roses.
Had to make the roses separately to allow for drying time before using them.

I didn't really like this cake as found the technique rather 'flat' due to no 2-D or 3-D effect.  Or perhaps it was a lack of skill in executing this technique that failed to show the delicate flowers.  I had done some reading and the books that displayed this technique really showed some realistic looking embroidered flowers, almost as if the cake were the cloth itself and the flower had been sewn on.  Probably need to practice more.

Had been missing in action - due to a recent bereavement in the family - my father passed away due to colorectal cancer and the aftermath of the funeral, so was simply too busy running here and there.

Finally, got to do this.  Here's a picture of the fondant cake I did recently, with a bow and ribbon as part of the decor.
